ADDICTIONS: We acknowledge that we have different genetic make-ups

Addictions Journal: We acknowledge that we have different genetic make-ups, levels of connectivity in our brains, sensitivity to our internal and external inputs, unique or frozen thresholds for stress and other emotions. To be of value, ten stage course work has to draw on these differences to elicit how we make sense. Making sense means how something fits within our past, with what we think or imagine “knows about how our world works” . Making sense of our world is another one of the our primary jobs, and doing so reveals our static mind patterns. Mind patterns are repetitive thoughts and behaviours that become unconscious over time. And in our world, practice does not make perfect, it gives a rigidity a form of permanence. Our entrenched patterns govern how we make sense of a situation, our role in it, and the other parties involved.Abuse freezes these patterns giving a static frozen response of fear, flight or fight.
